On My Own sends the refreshingly positive, and supportive, message that being alone is not a sign of failure but can be an empowering and liberating experience. Society can be cruel in its assessment of a woman alone, regarding her as defective or deserving of pity. Similar pressures cause women to be ashamed of losing the status of mother, wife or girlfriend, and to dread the prospect of 'going it alone'. But, as the author of this inspiring book points out, being on your own can be a vital, intensely creative experience in which you can find your own voice and live a fulfilling life. The case histories and positive view of On My Own will resonate with every woman, young and old, since it touches on a sensitive nerve shared by women all over the world.

Like a lot of women of my generation, I was raised to be a wife and mother. That worked for me until I realized my husband was a jerk and I divorced him, until my father died and left us only gambling debts, until my mother and sister were killed in a plane crash. So there I was, 40 years old, close to broke, with two children, and no way of making a living. Fortunately, I was a natural as a financial adviser and broker. And as soon as I'd solved my own money problems, I turned my attention to helping other women become financially independent. Invest? Isn't that gambling? Not compared to betting everything you've got on a man! Investing isn't rocket science. Once you've mastered some simple ideas --- spend less, save more, watch your credit card debt --- you're likely to find you actually have money to invest. And that's where this book can be your guide to sane, successful investing.

“I stayed in my garage and lit up a cigarette, and then I smoked it. Then I lit up another one and smoked it, and I don't think I ever smoked one right after the other, unless I was drinking.” “I lit up a 3rd cigarette, and I could not almost smoke that one, and then I started inhaling the cigarette smoke into my nose, and it was burning me. My eyes were burning, and I started thinking, I hate these cigarettes, and then I lit up another one, and smoked it!” “I smoked it, until I could hardly smoke it, and then I snorted it up my nostrils, until it was burning so bad, my body hated it! I have not smoked a cigarette in over 10 years now, and never even had a desire the next morning, learn how I taught myself not to have a craving inside, and other stories from the same author that will blow your mind maybe.”

I Have Seen It With My Own Eyes. For those who doubt that there was a Holocaust, for those who cannot believe that man is capable of gross inhumanity to man, I tell this story. This is my story - the story of an average boy, from an average family, whose life was changed dramatically and forever because one man had a plan. This plan was to eliminate an entire group of people from the face of the earth. And what had these people done? What had I done? Why were we hated so much? We were hated because we were Jewish. That was our sin. And because of this we were tortured. We were killed. We lost our homes. We lost our families. We lost everything. I know this is true because I have seen it with my own eyes.

As the eldest daughter of a great man and a great King, whose magnificent intelligence has enriched his people, I owe nothing but misfortune to my royal origin. Ever since I was born I have suffered and been deceived. I have idealized Life too much. In the evening of my days I do not wish to remain under the cloud of the false impression which is now prevalent concerning me. Without desiring to allude too much to the past, and to retrace the road of my Calvary, I should like at least to borrow a few pages from my memories and reflections, inspired by events which have destroyed thrones in whose proximity I once lived. The Emperor of Austria, the German Emperor, the Tsar of Bulgaria were all familiar figures to me. Driven to Munich by the War, then to Budapest, taken prisoner for a brief space by Hungarian Bolshevists, I have survived the European tempest, and I have seen all those who disowned and crushed me, beaten and punished. And I trembled every day for my poor Belgium, so strong in her courage and her travail, but so unjust to me—oh no, not the people—the good people are naturally heroic and indefatigable. I refer to certain of their leaders, who have been misled on my account, and who are also, perhaps, too fond of money. Unjust themselves, they all equally violated justice by illicit interests which had the appearance of legality, as well as by the false attitude which appeared merely to be forgetfulness, but which was actually ingratitude. My father has not yet had a monument erected to him in the country which he esteemed so highly; his Government has remembered the follies of his old age rather than its privileges, and his memory has suffered accordingly. But what is past is past. My memory remains faithfully and affectionately attached to my native land; my sole thought is to love and honour her. It is of Belgium that I wish to speak before passing on to the Courts of Vienna, Berlin, Munich and Sofia, and to the many doings which these names recall, certain of which deserve better knowledge and consideration.

She has been shot at by Bosnian snipers, been pursued by Robert Mugabe’s notorious secret police, filed from the North Korean border, propositioned by both Salvador Dali and David Niven and been driven maniacally through London by Steve McQueen. But Ann Leslie’s life is every bit as remarkable as her career. A daughter of the Raj, she was born in India and the strongest influence on her early life was an illiterate Pashtun bearer, who saved her life during Partition. Her mother, a great beauty, was indifferent to her eldest daughter and she was sent to the first of a series of boarding-schools aged just four, eventually winning a scholarship to Oxford. After graduating she began her career at the Manchester office of the Daily Express, where the news editor took an instant dislike to her - she was a southerner, educated and – worst of all – female. Despite his best efforts she was soon given her own column. Then, after a stint covering show business she was appointed Foreign Correspondent of the Daily Mail, an association that endures today, almost forty years later, and one which finally allowed her real talent to shine through. Killing My Own Snakes is a witty, incident-filled account of an extraordinary life, a fascinating self-portrait of one the most influential journalists of our time.

Musaicum Books presents to you this carefully created volume of "MY OWN STORY: The Memoirs of an Influential Suffragette (Illustrated Edition)". This ebook has been designed and formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. Emmeline Pankhurst (1858-1928) was a British political activist and leader of the British suffragette movement who helped women win the right to vote. In 1999 Time named Pankhurst as one of the 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century, stating "she shaped an idea of women for our time; she shook society into a new pattern from which there could be no going back". She was widely criticized for her militant tactics, and historians disagree about their effectiveness, but her work is recognized as a crucial element in achieving women's suffrage in Britain. Pankhurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), an all-women suffrage advocacy organization dedicated to "deeds, not words". Pankhurst, her daughters, and other WSPU activists received repeated prison sentences, where they staged hunger strikes to secure better conditions. This edition brings to you the powerful autobiography of this courageous woman in celebration of the undying spirit of freedom, equality and woman power. "Women are very slow to rouse, but once they are aroused, once they are determined, nothing on earth and nothing in heaven will make women give way; it is impossible."- Emmeline Pankhurst
