My son, Logan, was a sweet, happy, and healthy eight-year-old. He loved soccer, swimming, Ninja Turtles, his electronics, his family, and Jesus. Just days before he got sick, he asked me: "What is my purpose and why did God make me?" I was surprised by such a deep question from my youngest child but was about to learn it was a piece to a bigger puzzle. Part I of this memoir is the story of Logan's journey from his diagnosis of myocarditis to Heaven. Part II is my journey through grief, which I've documented to provide a glimmer of light in a land of darkness for parents going through a similar tragedy. Logan's heart did not go on to beat again, but mine now beats for both of us. This book is to honor his memory and fulfill his purpose here on Earth. "Death does not have the same sting. I have always had my faith, knowing God is there for me. But there is a different level of happiness in knowing that when I die, I will see Logan again. This vision of him running into my arms gets me through my darkest times. I imagine him introducing Jesus to me, showing me around heaven, and meeting all the friends he has made. Again, I envision an eight-year-old, a little blond-haired boy. This is a beautiful dream that will one day become a reality. Until then, I wait patiently and try to enjoy my life the best I can. One year, one month, one day at a time, one foot in front of the other."

It is time for the church to wake up, rise up, and grow up in His Word. We have flat lined, and our hearts have lost hope and become discouraged. We've been lulled to sleep, but it's now timeto hear a new song in our hearts. I liken what has happened to the church to a loaded potato. Over the years the baked potato has undergone quite a transition, from a simple baked tuber to whatis now known as the "fully loaded potato." To be "fully loaded" requires adding ingredients to the potato-sour cream, chives, cheese, bacon, and anything else you can think of that would enhance the flavor... As I pondered writing this book, I realized that our Christian lives could become like the overloaded potato. The original flavor or authenticity of the life of Christ in us becomes lost in the muddle of activity and pressure of life. If you were to order a loaded potato and say, "Loaded potato, please-but hold the potato?" We would be left with the accessories but not the coreingredient. We can make the same mistake in the Christian life: "Give me Jesus plus-perfect relationships, more money, more time, more joy, less fear and anxiety." What happened to simply "Give me Jesus"? He is the main ingredient, the One who is the Source of life, hope, peace, and joy.

I was once a pastor of a successful church that grew and grew. At one point in time, it was the fastest growing church in the city where I was. Hundreds came to Christ or returned to him and I had many friends. Then the bottom fell out of my life and I lost everything. I lost my marriage, my church, and all my friends. I walked around numb for months, trying to make sense of it all. But God knew my heart was his and he gave me a fresh start. He sent me the most amazing woman to stand at my side. Together, we went on a journey that is nothing short of miraculous and amazing. There were also many struggles and tears, as well as many sleepless nights. We endured much opposition and persecution. At one point, my wife died in my arms. When I cried out to God, he sent her back. Through it all, God was faithful. He can even raise the dead! Our story is one of relentless faith in God and his ability to do anything. It will make you laugh and probably cry. You will almost certainly shake your head in disbelief and find yourself praising God. Most of all, we hope that you will be like us and find yourself saying, “Only God!” To Him be all the glory. Beautifully written and deeply poignant, The Making of Us allows readers to walk alongside author and radio personality Sheridan Voysey during a transformational moment in his life journey. Picking up where Resurrection Year: Turning Broken Dreams Into New Beginnings left off, Sheridan helps us process what we can learn about our identities in the face of disappointment and change. Life had not gone according to plan for Sheridan Voysey and his wife, Merryn. When infertility ended their dream of becoming parents, they uprooted their lives and relocated from Australia to Oxford, England, so Merryn could pursue her professional goals. But the move meant Sheridan had to give up his well-established career in Christian radio, and though he was experiencing some success as a writer, he couldn’t reconcile his expectations for his life with the reality he was living. Lost and directionless, he came to a sobering realization: I don’t know who I am. Following the example of many a seeker, Sheridan decided to pair his spiritual journey with a literal one: a hundred-mile pilgrimage along the northeast coast of England. Inspired by the life and influence of the monk Cuthbert, who was among the first to evangelize northern England in the 600s, Voysey and his friend DJ traveled on foot from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to Durham, where the famed Lindisfarne Gospels were on display. What makes us who we are? What shapes our hopes and dreams, and how do we adjust when things don’t go as we hoped? Can we recover if we make a choice that’s less than perfect? Voysey tackles these questions and others as he deftly weaves together Cuthbert’s story, the history of early Christianity in England, and his own struggle to find his identity and purpose. His introspective writing leads readers to consider their own stories and reflect on how God calls each of us to an identity bigger than any earthly role or career. Part travel memoir, part pilgrim’s journal, The Making of Us is a quiet story including a chapter-by-chapter reflection guide, of trust in God’s leading for our lives, no matter where our paths take us.

Poe’s preference for not naming his narrators is potent once again in "The Tell-Tale Heart", a story that is trying so hard to appear sane, but fails miserably in the end. With minute preparations, perfect calculations, and even more precise execution of the conceived gruesome act, the narrator successfully fulfils his purpose, only to be lost in a battle with his sanity and guilt afterwards. Backed by the numerous movie and theatrical adaptations, the story is considered one of Poe’s most popular and critically acclaimed. Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an American poet, author, and literary critic. Most famous for his poetry, short stories, and tales of the supernatural, mysterious, and macabre, he is also regarded as the inventor of the detective genre and a contributor to the emergence of science fiction, dark romanticism, and weird fiction. His most famous works include "The Raven" (1945), "The Black Cat" (1943), and "The Gold-Bug" (1843).

Survivors of abuse have unique pasts, but the damage and pain are similar. Early-childhood trauma causes physical changes in the developing brain and a severing of emotions, and it distorts survivors’ perceptions about themselves and others, which can last a lifetime. Sexual abuse affects the body, mind, and spirit, and healing must include all three. Unfortunately, many abused and relationally broken wander through a maze of opinions and suggestions. In Life Beyond Dry Bones, author Ann Coffey tells how secular therapies offer partial help, but without the spiritual guidance, healing is fragmented and the recovery process incomplete. She tells how, with help from God, deep forgiveness and moving forward is possible. Life Beyond Dry Bones offers hope, encouragement and practical help from a Christian woman who has traveled the road from childhood sexual abuse to healing, forgiveness, and freedom. Coffey shares her story of abuse and how through therapy and prayer she started to come to terms with her past.

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. - Matthew 12:40 The premise of this book is that during these three days, Jesus was bombarded with images from Satan of future human events, trying to convince him that he should not return to the Earth versus images from God's angels showing him future human events to convince him to return. Here's a few examples of the over forty chapters of the book: "I Wear the Chain I Forged in Life;" "Alone with the Sky, Nature, and God;" "That Others May Live;" "The Evolution Scam;" "Broken Down Computers."
